The second brother journeyed to his home and turned that stone thrice in hand. And so that death took the first brother for his own. But that night, another wizard stole the wand and cut the brother’s throat for good measure.
The first one travelled to a distant village where with the help of that wand in his hand he killed a wizard with whom he had once quarrelled. So this time death reluctantly handed over his own cloak (gown) of invisibility. So death took out a stone from the river and offered it to him.įinally, death turned to the third brother who was a humble man, he asked for something that would allow him to go forward from that place without being followed by death.
The second brother wanted something which was more humiliating for death and asked for the power to recall loved ones from the grave.
